This is my first outfit post of the new year, I have not forgotten about this dear blog here but I am no longer in school which means I no longer live in la la land. Life has consumed me, life which consists of trying to find a steady job while trying to run a successful and profitable business. Anywho,

These tapestry beauties, I e-fought for and picked up when ASOS was having their thanksgiving/black friday sale. These have become important in my wardrobe, seeing as though I always turn to them when I want to add a little funk and interest in my outfit. Anddddd people love them because of course they look someone's grandmama couch on my feet.

Today was for the usual, ya know a tee, skirt, boot, and jacket combo. I mean what more do you need to run errands, right?? These boots have become my go to because for some reason now that I can semi tolerate heels my feet seem to not like my flats anymore. This brings a new and expensive problem, no?? yes!!
Now that the weather permits, I decided to debut my own shredded scarf from TiKeDi. Although I may be a little bias, I really do love this scarf and I think it is one of the best pieces that I have created for TiKeDi. It is such a statement piece, every time I wear it I get stopped and asked where I get it from and how did I make it. Which I would never tell. But anywho this year, I thought it was only right that I should add some spark to it which is why I now offer them in amazing pops of color such as teal, pink, and green.

Today is a day that will go down in history. Either our first black president will be re-elected or America as we know it will go to shit. This election has proved one thing to me, DEMOCRACY MY ASS. And now I am finished with my rant. Lucky me, I live in Georgia which is one of few states that allow early voting so I took care of that two weeks ago. But I did want to still show my patriotic side. This is my first time wearing one of my dresses as a top/tunic, my sister gave me this idea and I must say love the look.

Fall, what? There is no winter in sight in Atlanta and for the most part I am not complaining. But lets forget about the weather because this isn't what this post is about, this post is strictly about the boots. I bought these babies last Friday and have been wearing them since. What drew me to them were their clog like features and the fact that they gave me a little height compared to my other flat boots. I was unsure about the color because I would have preferred them in black but now I love this cognac color, it gives some contrast to my normal all black looks.

I was supposed to go tailgating at my Alma Mater but ended up heading to the city instead. Had a super fun day with my sister and our friend Jess. Speaking of American Apparel was having this sidewalk sale going on and Jess was able to snag their easy jeans and lace sweater for $36... too bad they only had the easy jeans in M and L, talk about jealous.

First hint of fall, and I waste absolutely no time throwing on a flannel, my docs, and layering. This is the season and time of the year that I live for thee most. With this look I decided to be a little risky and add a bunch of mystery by pairing my oversized/long shirt over my cutoff shorts but for extra security I wore my tights underneath the shorts.

Bought this shirt, DIY'ed it, and love it. For me it is hard to find vintage shirts in my size, and if they are my size they are out of my price range. And truth be told just because I like things that look already worn it, I am not completely a fan of wearing things that have already been worn which may be the reason I don't full on attempt to thrift and shift through shit. Anywho, Saturday is all about running errands so it was only right to remain comfortable which is why I threw on my go to jeans and my favorite fringe boots.

I've lived in these jeans all summer long, I have had them for over a year so I don't know why it has taken me so long to fall in love with them. I am telling you, these tanks are essentials and I felt was necessary to pair with my flares, since I wanted to experiment with a pop of neon. I easily always turn to these Target wedges, because they easily make me about 5'4ish which makes me feel super tall.

This is one of my favorite laid back casual looks to wear, so today when I jumped out of bed scrambling to run errands this was my go to outfit. This sweatpants are the most comfortable things I own and they aren't even mine, I stole them from cousin about six years ago because I loved them so much. The white piping on the side always pulls me to pairing it with a white tee opposed to a black or grey. Speaking of lately I have been living in these tanks from Walmart, they are super comfortable and only $3.00 at walmart, I purchased it a size big for the oversized affect and I love the low armholes. And it was a no brainer to throw on my run around combat boots.

08032012 | Dedicated to Gabby Douglas

The olympics is in full swing right now and while there are too many sports for one to pay attention to, there are a few that I always look forward to. The ones that I stay glued to the television for, are swimming, gymnastics, and track and field. Yesterday, Gabby Douglas an African American gymnast made history by being the first African American woman to win gold in all around. And while this 16 year old has accomplished what most won't in their lifetime, there has been nothing but negativity floating around the world wide web about something as petty as her hair. Because of this, I feel it is only right to dedicate this post in all my afro glory, to Gabby Douglas and her gold medals. Thank you for competing for our country.

After seeing this shirt on Gabi from Gabifresh I knew I had to have it, I finally got a chance to snag not only one but two on sale on Nasty Gal. Once in my possession I immediately fell in love and knew that it would not only become a staple but a necessity in my closet. Well this summer has arrived and they have definitely been playing their part, with these outrageous temperatures loose and sheer has been the way to go and this "it" shirt from unif fit the bill.

Went out with some friends for the usual...food and drinks. We were supposed to go to a beach party but those plans were side railed, so we did the next big thing. So we ended up at BBQ's. Because I was unsure of what the night ultimately was going to lead up to I went for my go to, a basic black mini dress and for added interest I threw on my freedom cardigan, from TiKeDi's newest Americana collection. I decided to try something new with it and chose to use some stray fabric to tie it under the bust giving it an empire waist affect, which I loved. Freedom got so many compliments, it made her feel like a queen.
Another great night with friends and a couple of laughs.

REINVENTION

And as I reinvent myself and I'm constantly curious about everything, I can't wait to see what's around the corner in newfound art and entertainment and exploration.

Lately these NYC streets have been loving the fro.

The top question that I always get when people inquire about the pieces from TiKeDi is "so how do I wear this". The truth is that there is so many ways to wear the pieces featured on the shop. I decided to brighten up my typical all black ensemble by throwing the Americana Cris dress over my original black pants, black cami outfit. I love the edge that my combat boots give this look. I definitely can see this being my favorite piece to play around with this summer.

She Got Her Own

While moving back to New York, I have been hitting the pavements and grinding it out on these New York City streets. Tuesday, I attended the semi annual She Got Her Own event hosted by Jerrell Horton and Devon Watson. To say that the turn out was amazing would be an understatement. My cousin and I attended on behalf of TiKeDi, and we got such great feedback. We had our own space, equipped with our own table for promotional purpose and a rack. Check out the rest of the pics.

Saturday was shoot day for TiKeDi and for the most part I have a uniform these days which have one principle in mind, comfort. Hence my favorite v neck t shirt, jeans, and boots combo. Midway into the shoot, we found this perfect rugged pick up truck and I could not resist leaning up against it to take a pic, or two, or three.
